We Survived the First Week Back!! Five for Friday

Well, the first week back is in the books! I don't know about you guys, but getting back in the swing after Winter Break is always so hard!! Here are a few things going on this week in our 4th Grade...

I would love to have gotten back in our classroom routine this week, but with the frigid cold it was hard to do. Our district had a two-hour delay two mornings this week due to the below zero wind chills. It didn't help our school heater broke on one of the coldest days. The classrooms were a balmy 62 degrees at the beginning of the morning. I wish I had a picture of Tracy rocking her coveralls at school, but she did post her car duty ensemble!

I'm hoping next week is warmer, but it looks like freezing rain on Monday so I'm not holding my breath!

This week in Math we are covering geometry. Lines, Points, and Angles, Oh My! I was going to work on making some resources for this unit, but found a great bundle on TPT! We are about halfway through it and this has provided some great extra practice!

I don't know about other states, but in Indiana from now until March is really where a lot of the teaching takes place. We are also gearing up and preparing for our state testing, I-Step. New state standards, (we dropped Common Core) means a new test to prepare for. I love that we are 1:1 and our students have tons of resources at their fingertips. We have been doing some great daily review on Moby Max and Study Island.

What technology sites and apps do you use in your classroom for enrichment?

Our business cards arrived in the mail this week!! Aren't they great?!? I love how they pop! (Please excuse the poor quality of the pictures, the lighting and my phone just weren't cooperating!!)

I'm going to end with something I am looking forward to: The 2015 Spring Teacher Blogger Meet-Up!! It is taking place in beautiful French Lick, Indiana this March. How gorgeous is this resort?

We would love to have you join us! The weekend will be spent sharing blogging, TPT, and classroom tricks of the trade. For more information check out Mrs. Ehle's Kindergarten Connections page. We hope to see you there!!!

  1. Hehe! I actually know where French Lick, Indiana is even though I live in Australia! My brother loved Larry Bird growing up and would watch his video constantly - he was from French Lick! Sorry it's been so cold where you live, I would not have enjoyed the day when the heater broke! We have had a real heat spell, but it has cooled down today (very thankful!).

    Have a lovely weekend!

  2. It's truly a small world. Larry Bird is one of my son's biggest heroes. He's a basketball lover to the core. I've always wanted to travel to Australia and I'm super jealous you are having a heat wave at the moment. Last week we had a wind chill of -10°. I hated every minute of it!
